Character Information
Sakura was born in Sendai and is the daughter of Colonel Kazuma Shinguji, who served with Lieutenant General Yoneda during the Demon Wars. Like her father, Sakura has inherited the "Blood of the Destroyers of Evil," which combined with what are known as the Three Sacred Treasures, can be used to seal enormous evil power, but at the cost of the user's life. Carrying on in her father痴 footsteps, Sakura learned the Northern Long Blade sword style in order to earn the right to wield her father痴 sword- the Spirit Sword Arataka. In order to bolster the strength of the Flower Division, General Yoneda personally travelled to Sendai to bring Sakura into the Flower Division. Upon mastering the powerful Cherry Blossom Spirit Attack, Sakura was permitted to return with Yoneda to Tokyo, and take up defending the Imperial Capital, like her father before her.

Being the newest member of the Flower Division wasn稚 exactly easy for the naive newcomer. Sakura had to overcome her inexperience and prove herself to her comrades in order to gain acceptance within the group. In the end, however, she proved herself a loyal friend and worthy asset of the Flower Division- both on the stage, and on the battlefield. Operating her Koubu was one of her most difficult challenges. Her inability to control the mecha, combined with her enormous spiritual power, led to some chaotic incidents whenever she attempted to operate the Spirit Armor. But at this, too, she managed to overcome adversity and rise to the challenge as a proficient pilot.

Sakura's seiyuu is the versatile Chisa Yokoyama, who has played such prominent roles as Ryoko in Martian Successor Nadesico and Lt. Noin in Gundam Wing, but is probably best known for her role as Sasami in Tenchi Muyo. Her English-language opposite is Katherine Catmull, who has lent her voice previously to such titles as Queen Emeraldas and Samurai X.
