Upon graduating from the Naval Academy, 2nd Lt. Ichiro Ohgami received a rather unexpected command appointment. He was tasked with taking command of an all-female theater troupe. He was bewildered to say the least, all of his military training and he gets stuck being a ticket clipper at the Great Imperial Theater? In reality, this was but a mere guise to hide the Troupe's real identity- The Imperial Floral Assault Troupe, Hanagumi, or "Flower Division." Being one of the few men in the Japanese Military with enough spiritual power to even move the Koubu, Ohgami received the task of serving as a catalyst that would unify the hearts of his new squad into a cohesive fighting unit.
Kind, understanding, and confident, Ohgami's devotion to duty and his fondness for everyone in the Flower Division make him highly suited to handle the challenges he faces as the Flower Division's Captain. In battle, Ohgami is an excellent tactician and is capable of making snap decisions that allow the Flower Division to prevail in their high-stakes battles against the various dark forces that threaten the peace of the Imperial Capital. Off the field, Ohgami diligently works to see that all of the girls' needs are met, and he contributes enormously to the upkeep of the Great Imperial Theater, particularly in the high-stakes field of ticket clipping.
Flower Division Captain Ohgami is voiced by Akio Sayama, who has appeared in Macross 7. His English-language counterpart is Brian Gaston, who played Enishi in the English dub of Samurai X.
