Flower Division Captain Ichiro Ohgami is preparing to depart the Imperial Capital on his journey to study abroad in France. As the young Lieutenant collects his belongings, Ohgami reflects upon the many wonderful adventures he has had with the girls of the Flower Division over the past couple of years.
Chapter 1: The Fearsome Assassin from New York
Celebrating the success of the Flower Division’s theatrical production of Cinderella, a party is held in the courtyard of the Imperial Theater. As Ohgami and Yoneda lay plastered on the ground, the girls are busy demonstrating their hidden talents. Sakura demonstrates a technique the Shinguji family uses to make wine cups at celebratory parties back in Sendai. Much to everyone’s astonishment, Maria, too, steps forward to demonstrate a hidden talent of her own. Maria attempts to perform “za vashe zdorov’e,” or “Cheers,” which involves firing a bullet in to the air, then hitting the bullet as it plummets back to Earth and scoring a bullseye on two separate targets. After performing the trick and failing, Maria chuckles and comments “As if such a stunt were possible.” Everyone has a good laugh, but Sakura notices that Maria is disturbed by her failure.
Elsewhere in the city, a mysterious man arrives off of a ship from New York. His name is Valentinov, and he has come to try and kill Maria. As the Flower Division is in the middle of its presentation of Cinderella, Ohgami is passing out gifts to the girls when they are captivated by a scale replica of the Imperial Theater someone had sent. However, there is more to the lavish gift than meets the eye. After receiving a disturbing letter from Valentinov stating that there is a bomb in the Imperial Theater, Maria rushes off alone to confront the Mafioso in a battle for possession of the bomb’s remote detonating trigger. Against a determined opponent and a menacing super weapon, can Maria claim the remote control before the bomb detonates?
Chapter 2: City With Waterways
Taking a break from their rigorous rehearsal schedule, Ohgami and the rest of the Flower Division are off enjoying an outing at the Hanayashiki amusement park on a beautiful summer’s day. After playing a game of ring toss, and Kanna trouncing on the carnie, everyone decides to take in a movie. As everyone indulges on snacks, Reni notices how captivated Iris is with the scenes of the Dragon God Festival playing on the screen. Back at the Imperial Theater, everyone is rehearsing for the Flower Division’s upcoming theatrical production of “The Blue Bird.” Iris, who is playing the lead, is scolded by Orihime for bungling her lines. Iris flies into a rage and blames her mistakes on Reni, who surprisingly agrees with her. Kanna tries to intervene and get Iris to apologize, but the petite starlet just storms off the stage.
The following day, Iris sets out from the Imperial Theater early in the morning, having decided to go out on the town by herself. As the Flower Division resolves to try and find where Iris has ran off to, Iris takes in a captivating street performance of the Red Lad’s daring exploits. Having spotted a boat, which just so happens to belong to the comical Dandy gang, Iris decides to take the vessel out on a little joy ride while the Mafioso are busy watching the performance. With the boat now speeding out of control through the waterways of Tokyo, Reni and the others must race against time to rescue their stranded comrade before something disastrous happens to her.
Chapter 3: The Astounding Cinema Incident
Orihime lies still on the ground, Maria vowing to capture the nefarious bandit. Sumire scoffs and vows never to be captured, Iris and Reni reaffirm their lady, the Crimson Lizard’s proclamation. Kanna steps forward vowing to arrest her, as she is legendary detective Kojiro Akechi. Reviewing the segment they just shot, Sumire is flabbergasted by the camera error that zoomed in right on her nose. The Director acts quickly, and with a little ego stroking, calms the distraught top star. Elsewhere, Ohgami and Yoneda are visiting with Sumire’s father, whose company is financing the film the Flower Division is acting in. Yoneda dispatches Ohgami to the film studio to see how filming of the Crimson Lizard is progressing.
Following several strange occurrences, the Flower Division hears rumors that the ghost of a silent film actress who committed suicide is haunting the film studio, and interfering with several productions. Sumire scoffs at the ghost’s tragic story, which earns her the ire of the vengeful spirit, who now seeks to destroy the Flower Division starlet. Failing in her first attempt to kill Sumire by dropping a chandelier on her in the midst of her long monologue, the vengeful ghost sets her eyes on Captain Ohgami, and possesses the helpless Captain to wreak her vengeance on Sumire. Will Sumire be able to fend off the angry spirit’s wrath, or will the Flower Division star be joining her ghostly adversary in the next world?
Chapter 4: Dramatic Picture-Card Show - May You Be Eternal, Red Lad!
At the Imperial Art Museum, a painting contest has recently been held. The winner of the contest, with his unique style of realism, is Seiya Ogata, Orihime’s father. The Flower Division heads over to congratulate the talented painter, and Orihime’s childish nature become apparent the way she clings to her beloved papa. In the middle of a priceless father-daughter moment, Mr. Chibasuke, the creator of the Red Lad series arrives and asks Kohran to pose as the model for the Red Lad in one of Mr. Ogata’s paintings, which Mr. Chibasuke had commissioned. After Ohgami and Kaede discuss the proposition with Manager Yoneda, he leaves the decision up to Kohran, who gladly accepts the job. Elsewhere, children are drawing a picture of the Red Lad in the dirt, but their playtime is soon interrupted by the arrival of yakuza members, who have sinister intentions.
Kohran and Orihime head over to Mr. Ogata’s home to begin work on the painting. Just as they’re getting ready to begin painting, Mr. Chibasuke barges in calling for Mr. Ogata to come outside. The gangsters have seized control of the deed for the row houses where everyone lives, and are intent on tearing them down and driving everyone out of their homes. The residents take a stand against the Mafioso and a fierce fight breaks out between the two sides. During the brawl, some children discover Kohran dressed as the Red Lad, and believing that she is the real thing, chase her all over the area. While in hiding, Kohran creates a device and sends for help from the Flower Division. With time running out, will the Red Lad be able to save the threatened homes from the gangster’s plans before it’s too late?
Chapter 5: Father and Daughter
Tsubaki is eavesdropping on a conversation between Sakura and Yoneda. Sakura has invited Yoneda home to Sendai with her to serve as a father figure in a wedding. Tsubaki, thinking the wedding is Sakura’s, quickly spreads the news to Kasumi and Yuri in the theater office. After overhearing Ohgami’s unsuccessful attempt to find out what Sakura and Yoneda are hiding, the three girls agree to keep this secret to themselves. Tsubaki, being the resident gossip of the group, secretly informs Maria of the news, leaving her stunned. From there, word travels quickly throughout the Flower Division of Sakura’s pending nuptials in Sendai. The following day, Yoneda and Sakura depart by train for Sendai, while having not informed the rest of the Flower Division of her plans, who now assume that today, was Sakura’s wedding day.
On the long train ride to Sendai, the conductor recognizes Sakura to be the famous actress that she's become. Yoneda teases Sakura by confirming the Conductor’s suspicions, leaving Sakura stunned, but he quickly dismisses the thought and says they just look alike. Yoneda reflects upon the time when Sakura’s real father, Kazuma, asked him to look after Sakura should anything happen to him amidst the chaos of the Demon Wars which were now raging. After sharing a snack with Sakura, Yoneda again reflects upon the chaos of the Demon Wars, remembering Kazuma’s final moments before using the sacred treasures to sacrifice himself in order to seal away the power of the demonic horde. Upon arriving in Sendai, Sakura and Yoneda take their place in the marriage procession.
Chapter 6: A New Era for Women
Troubled by Sakura’s wedding, the girls of the Flower Division stir restlessly, unable to cope with the fact that their comrade may be leaving them to indulge in married life. As Sakura receives instructions from her grandmother about her pending duties during the wedding ceremony, Tsubaki, Yuri, and Kasumi present a piece of paper they found in Sakura’s trash bin. From the contents of the paper, the Flower Division comes to the conclusion that Sakura’s wedding is an arranged marriage that has been forced upon her, causing the troupe to come to a resolution that they must rescue their friend. Plowing over Ohgami, who has just returned from a Naval Academy reunion, the girls all rush off to the train station.
As the wedding ceremony comes to a conclusion, the Shinguji family is celebrating the joyous occasion. Sakura’s mother and grandmother tell her what her future will hold, but she dismisses it as unlikely. The Shinguji women reflect upon Kazuma learning of his destiny, and his departure from Sendai to the Imperial Capital to battle the demon horde running rampant throughout the city. Back in the capital, the Flower Division, having learned that the trains are no longer running, takes the air battleship Shogei Maru and races towards Sendai. Back at the Imperial Theater, Ohgami informs Tsubaki, Kasumi, and Yuri of the true nature of Sakura’s trip to Sendai. Kaede places a call to the eccentric Tsukigumi commander, Yuichi Kayama, and orders him to prepare for the Shogei Maru’s unexpected arrival in Sendai.
