Initially released on the Sega Saturn in 1996, Sakura Taisen proved to be one of the most successful and best-selling games ever released on the console. The popular game was later ported to the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 as part of the Sakura Project 2000, where it continued to enjoy widespread success among longtime fans and newcomers alike. Recently announced at the July 2002 Sakura Taisen World Project, the popular dating-sim/Action RPG is now being completely revamped using the ST3/ST4 game engine, and enhanced with all new features in preparation of being ported to the Playstation 2 under the title of Sakura Taisen: Atsuki Chishio Ni.
Picking up roughly a year after the events of the first game, the sequel to the 1996 smash-hit Sakura Taisen was initially released on the Sega Saturn back in 1998, and later on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 as part of the Sakura Project 2000. Sakura Taisen 2: Shi ni tamou koto nakare, or "Do Not Give Up Your Life," with its ever expanding cast of characters and exciting new game play features, is often considered to be one of the most beloved of the four Sakura Taisen titles by the series' extensive fanbase. One of the most amazing feats related to Sakura Taisen 2 is that in the waning days of the Sega Saturn, this game managed to rack up an incredible sales record of 500,000 copies in its first week on the market.
