Sakura Wars Terminology Guide

For those of you who are new to the world of Sakura Wars/Sakura Taisen, we took the liberty of assembling a little guide to some of the terminology that shows up throughout the series.

Hanagumi – Flower Division, the combat troupe under Ichiro Ohgami, which defends the Imperial Capital, as well as performing theatrical products at the Great Imperial Theater.

Blood of the Haja – The blood of the destroyers of evil. No matter how powerful the evil foe, the one who possesses the blood of the destroyers of evil can vanquish their darkness. Combined with the Majinki, this power is amplified significantly, but will cost the user their life in the process.

Hoshigumi – Star Division, the predecessor of the Flower Division, which was disbanded. Orihime and Reni came from this unit.

Kazegumi – Wind Division, the support unit that assists the Flower Division in battle, and handles the office work of the Imperial Theater

Koubu – Spirit Armor, the mecha the Flower Division take in to battle, designed by Kanzaki Heavy Industries.

Majinki – The three sacred treasures, the sword, jewel, and mirror which make up Japan's most sacred treasures. Combined with the power of the person who possesses the Power of the Haja, it can be used to seal tremendous evil.

Mikasa – The gigantic aerial battleship built by Kanzaki Heavy Industries, used during Sakura Taisen 1 and 2.

Shogei Maru - Translates roughly to ‘Flying Whale.’ This is the aerial battleship/transport used to move the Koubu over long distances. It is also armed with a large cannon for bombardment duties.

TeiGeki – Short for Teikoku Kagekidan, a nickname used for the Imperial Theater.

Tsukigumi – Moon Division, the Intelligence-gathering unit of the Capital Defense Force, under Yuichi Kayama.

Wakiji – The name of the mechanical monsters used by the forces of evil during Sakura Taisen 1 and the Sakura Wars TV series.
